Parent/Carer consultations are an essential part of Emily’s therapy services, designed to support you as a key partner in your child's therapeutic journey. Before starting with your child Emily will arrange for an Initial Parent/Carer Intake session which is for parent/carers only, without children present. The Initial Intake session allows you to provide information about what has led to you seeking support for your child and to collaboratively formulate a therapeutic plan for what supports will look like going forward. Regular consultations then provide a space for you to gain insights into your child’s progress, discuss strategies for reinforcing therapy goals at home, and address any concerns or questions you may have.
Even when your child is not currently attending therapy, parent/carer consultations offer valuable support for families navigating challenges. These sessions are designed to equip you with practical tools and insights to enhance your child’s well-being and address family dynamics.
Consultations will provide the opportunity to discuss any observations or concerns you have about your child’s behaviour or emotional well-being, and work together to develop effective solutions and practical strategies to implement at home that complement your child’s therapy, helping to reinforce their progress and address any ongoing challenges.
Consultations can be scheduled as needed to address specific issues or as part of an ongoing series to provide continuous support throughout your child’s therapy. Our goal is to empower you with the tools and understanding to support your child's growth and well-being.
Emily offers telehealth services, providing a convenient, secure, and effective way to deliver therapeutic support to your child from the comfort of your home. Designed to meet the unique needs of young clients, her virtual sessions ensure that therapy remains engaging and impactful, even in an online format.
Emily’s sibling relationship therapy sessions are designed to strengthen bonds, resolve conflicts, and enhance communication between siblings. These sessions provide a supportive environment where siblings can explore their interactions, address underlying issues, and build healthier relationships. Our goal is to help siblings develop a deeper understanding of each other, improve their interactions, and create a more positive and supportive family dynamic. Separate sessions with each sibling are usually required beforehand to assess whether sibling sessions are appropriate and useful.
Emily provides a number of psychological assessments designed to support applications for funding and additional supports. While these assessments are not used for diagnostic purposes, they serve as valuable evidence to advocate for necessary resources, such as NDIS funding or accommodations at childcare and school. Emily’s approach ensures that you have the comprehensive information needed to effectively support your child’s application and secure the appropriate resources for their development and well-being.
Emily’s reports summarise your child’s progress in therapy, highlighting areas of strength and need while providing recommendations for ongoing support. They are valuable for understanding your child's development and can be used to support NDIS applications and plan reviews. Additionally, these reports help inform decisions and provide recommendations about further interventions or diagnostic testing through your paediatrician.
Additionally, Emily provides letters that detail your child's therapeutic needs and progress, tailored to support applications for funding, educational accommodations, or other services. These letters are designed to clearly communicate the rationale for requested supports and to advocate effectively on your child’s behalf.
